Will Arctic Air Return In Early February?

Monday: What is most important the next few days is what happens with frigid Arctic air that’s expected to pour into the Rockies and Plains during the first several days of February. Will this frigid air spread south and east around Feb 3-7? The weather data is mixed on if this will occur. The overnight European model was colder than the rest of the data on cold prospects. The markets will be watching this closely the next few days and sharp price swings are likely based on daily weather trends.  The image below shows the heat signature just off the surface around Feb 2nd, highlighting very cold air into the Plains, but with a milder ridge over the East Coast.  Who will win the battle between the ridge holding or cold advancing into the East?
