High Pressure & Warm Temperatures Shifting Into Eastern US…Strong Spring Storm Coming Out Of West

Warm temperatures over the Plains will shift east as a deep trough of low pressure comes out of the western US with increasing showers and thunderstorms. Highs of 70s and 80s will shift into the Midwest and much of the eastern US over the coming days, providing a nice break from the onslaught of late season chilly weather. A warm front moving through the Great Lakes will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms today as will of a dry line moving through Texas and the southern Plains late in the afternoon and early evening. The trough coming out of the west will set the stage for active weather that will last over the coming 10 days with a fairly impressive cool blast coming next week with temperatures dropping 10-20°F cooler than normal over many regions of the central and eastern US.

1)  High pressure will shift into the eastern US and along with it will come mild conditions as temperatures warm into the 70s and 80s as far north as the Midwest and Northeast.

2)  A deep trough of low pressure will kick out of the western US and into the northern Plains with increasing showers and thunderstorms.  This will also bring cooler conditions into the Plains as temperatures return closer to normal.

3)  A warm front on the leading edge of the high pressure ridge will bring a line of strong lift leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Great Lakes.

4)  A dry line over Texas will lead to showers and thunderstorms late in the day as cooler conditions drop temperatures follow and drop temperatures closer to normal.
