The first real cold blast of the winter season will sweep across the Midwest and northeastern US late this week through the weekend.  This will bring a jump in nat gas use for heating as overnight lows drop into the upper 20s and 30s, the first widespread frost/freeze.

The first real cold blast of the winter season will sweep across the Midwest and northeastern US late this week through the weekend. This will bring a jump in nat gas use for heating as overnight lows drop into the upper 20s and 30s, the first widespread frost/freeze.  The image shows the heat signature off the surface Saturday as the cold blast pushes fairly deep into the US.
