Two major features will dominate the weather over the US in the coming days. They are both very easy to locate on a map of 24 hour temperature changes. Over the central US temperatures are 15-30°F warmer than this time yesterday, especially over Texas and north through Missouri and Illinois. On the other extreme are the impressive temperature drops over the northern Rockies and northern Plains, with some locations as much as 40°F colder than this time yesterday. The cold will continue to push into the central US in the coming days while the “big mild” shifts into the Northeast with very pleasant temperatures heading into the Winter Solstice.
