Frigid Polar Blasts Through End of January, But Nat Gas Markets Not Liking Early February

Tuesday, January 22:  There’s still expected to be several frigid cold blasts to impact much of the country through the end of the month for bouts of very strong demand, suggesting reasons for early week selling are likely due to the pattern for Feb 3-6th where cold has been favored to gradually lose its grip across the northern and eastern US in more of the weather data. The first images shows the set up around Feb 4 with still very cold air over S. Canada, just not covering nearly as much of the northern and eastern US. There’s still ways the data trend back colder, but until it does, the nat gas markets are saying they wanted cold to be sustained and not back off during the first week of February. The following images highlight frigid cold shots late this week and again around Jan 29-Feb 1.
