Tuesday: The weather data continues to advertise very cold air arriving into the northern US the first week of February, as has been our bias. The first image below shows where the strongest heating demand will occur around Monday, Feb 5th in the GFS Ensemble weather model. The data shows it coldest over the Midwest, with chilly conditions also across the Northeast. The second image shows where 24-hour trends for that day have occurred, greatest over the north-central US.  Frigid Arctic air will gradually spread south and east Feb 6-8th for strong national heating demand.  The markets are sharply higher today as the overnight weather data confirmed this and was colder trending in some of the data sets.
