A Strong Cold Blast Barreling Through The US & Deep Into The Southern Plains

The latest Spring storm continues to roll across the US and will bring a variety of exciting weather conditions to the US over the next few days. More importantly is the impressive cold blast that is sweeping through the Plains that will advance into the eastern US Tuesday with temperatures dropping 25-40°F behind the cold front. While conditions are quite mild across the eastern US today, as highs reach into the 70s and 80s, which is well above normal, temperatures will rapidly drop early Tuesday as the cold front moves through along with a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Behind the cold front and into the Great Lakes, snow will fall and could accumulate to several inches. In fact, some snowflakes are possible all the way to northern Texas this morning.  The cold blast will bring chilly overnight lows the next several days with many locations seeing 20s and 30s, with 40s deep into the Gulf coast region. This will lead to higher than normal nat gas and heating demand, especially for the highest use states of the Midwest and Northeast. Just as this weather system is tracking out to sea, the next cool blast will already be pushing into the northern Plains and affecting many of these same regions Friday through the weekend with another round of active weather and below normal temperatures.
