We don’t tend to talk about Heating and Cooling Degree Days, even though much of the industry uses them, as we find people tend to get lost when we go into the numbers and also get confused about what they’re really saying. We do think there is value to looking at numbers like these, but there is also a lot of weather information that isn’t being taken into account, such as sunshine, winds, humidity, rain or snow, etc. Adding these additional elements leads to a much more accurate forecast of nat gas and heating demand. Not to mention, heating and cooling degrees are a bit archaic as the science has advanced significantly since its inception and to us, we could provide a much more accurate forecast by using other methods. Below list forecasts for the week for both heating and cooling degree days. Heating degrees to measure how much colder than normal and Cooling to measure how much warmer than normal.
